From Canada, we travelled to Vietnam and based on the recommendation of a fashion-industry friend, made a b-line for A-Dong in Hoi An. It was our first trip to Vietnam and we were amazed by the sheer number (200+) tailor shops in Hoi An - a hotbed of custom made clothing, shoes etc. We learned that most of these shops have a formal 'pay for referral' network amongst hotel concierges and others in the tourist industry - except A-Dong. They rely on their work and quality reputation and it is a good one. As an example, while we were there getting our measurements ( suits, shorts, dresses, overcoats, jackets, and more ) we noted a returning customer back in town from Australia after a 4 year absence. The quality of cloth and choice was very impressive and included high end English bespoke and Italian wools. The service was extraordinary, particularly with the lady who served me, Nhung.
